LifeSweet Photography, founded in 2008, is so named because life is indeed sweet, and we should take every opportunity to savor it. My name is Phil Bockman, and I have been taking pictures for as long as I can remember. I don’t believe there is anything better in life than doing what you really love: for me this love is photography. The basics of photography never change but the equipment, technologies and programs are in a constant state of flux. It’s that constant change that keeps me a student of the trade. I started years ago using a Kodak Instamatic 104 camera, and have now progressed to a Canon 5d Mark II, along with several other cameras and more lenses than I care to count.
Our minds are amazing but they sometimes need a little reminder of an earlier time and place. This is yet another reason why I’m so fascinated with photography. Photos bring our minds to places that evoke happiness, joy, peace, celebration and all other kinds of emotions.
Like many photographers, I shoot all types of subjects. I’ve photographed jewelry, landscapes, seascapes and people but I am particularly drawn to wildlife and especially man’s best friend: dogs. I’ve raised Old English Bulldogs and German Shepherds; and along with this I have experienced a roller coaster of emotions: from happiness in seeing the puppies being born, opening their eyes for the first time and playing with their litter mates, to a little sense of loss when they went to their new homes. In some ways it can be compared to raising children–although my own may not appreciate the analogy! Now I enjoy spending as much time as possible with dogs; finding myself at dog trials and shows, capturing the special traits of each breed.
Please browse the site under the categories that interest you. All of the images are available for purchase but please do not copy them due to both copyright restrictions and the fact that this collection took years to assemble. Feel free to contact me if you have any constructive suggestions as I wish this to be the best site it can possibly be.
I hope all your photographs remind you that life is sweet indeed!
“The secret of a good memory is attention, and attention to a subject depends upon our interest in it. We rarely forget that which has made a deep impression on our minds.”
